News Flash: Commenting is now available on the blog. See something you want to respond to, go ahead. We, of course, reserve the right to not post your response, but it would have to be pretty foul for us not to.
They lied.
I'm not bitter about it. That's business, but the fact is, they did.
In case you haven't heard yet, I think I can safely say, FM International is out of business. I haven't heard anything official from them, but their phone's been disconnected for three or four weeks now. They told Brenner (the printer) not to send them anymore books. Our last clue was that if they were still in business, we should have an order by now. We don't.
You can expect some future blog entry to cover this in more detail.
So, what does this mean for us? Well, it means that we won't be getting books to you in March. It means we have to go through the long and drawn out process of soliciting distributors, again. That puts us about six months behind schedule, so the book would come out in September of '06. I really hope that's not the case. I have a few ideas that should speed the process up a bit for us if all goes well.
What does that mean for you? Well, you have another couple of months to wait before The Purged comes out. That's the bad news. The good news (hopefully) is that when it does you will be able to find it anywhere. Justin and I will start looking at conferences to attend. I hadn't intended to start doing that until this fall, so if we keep to my initial schedule, we'll be around soon after issue one comes out.
I want to take a second and thank everyone who has shown any interest in our book. Everyone of you who have come and looked through the site give us moral support, even if you can't supply us with financial support yet. So, as a way of saying thank you, we are adding two bits to the website.
Since we now have a small hole in our art schedule, Justin and I are going to do a six to eight page prologue for issue one that you will be able to see no where else but right here. It won't be a fleeting thing either. I would like to do a prologue on the site before each issue giving you a little background on various characters as they are introduced. Know for sure that the prologue for issue one will be up in three to four weeks. We will try to do more later, but time will have to dictate.
Thanks again for allowing us to entertain you. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have some distributors to schmooze.
Rhys & Justin
